Lionel Belmore (12 May 1867 Wimbldom, London, England - 30 January 1953 Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California) was an English character actor and director on stage and in US films of the 1920's and 1930's. In total he had some 200 titles to his film credit. He starred in films such as Frankenstein (1931), Bardelys the Magnificent (1926), Oliver Twist (1933) and Cleopatra in 1934. He also had an uncredited role in The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939). Unusually his career as a director preceded his career as a prolific actor. He was a director from 1914 to 1920 only starring in a limited number of films until concentrating as an actor from then on. He was the brother of actress Daisy Belmore.
